The University of British Columbia's start an evolution campaign aims to raise $1.5 billion dollars for students, research and community engagement and to double the number of alumni involved annually in the life of the university by 2015.

Our time at university constitutes some of the most formative, important years of our lives. It was then that many of us took the last big step that separated the child from the adult. It was then that we discovered just how big the world really is, and how we might fit ourselves into it. We met good friends then – many that will last a lifetime – and learned both the pain and joy of belonging to something bigger than ourselves.
University was also the place where we undertook the most intense period of learning we’re ever likely to experience. From world-class professors to the brilliant kid in English 101 who showed us what “smart” really meant, we’re unlikely to live through such a hothouse of new intellectual input again. It’s here, as well, that we acquired the knowledge, skill and confidence to make a real difference in the world.
Part of the task we take on in the Alumni Association is to maintain the link between you and that time in your life. We organize events, programs and communications that keep you in touch with classmates of old and make it possible to meet grads from other years. We invite you to hear today’s most awe-inspiring profs (and that brilliant kid who grew up to be a community leader) as they discuss issues that matter to you and your family.
At the Alumni Association, we’re also aware of our responsibility to the university. UBC’s graduates are its most valuable asset. As ambassadors in your communities, as advocates for post secondary learning, as mentors to today’s students, as governance and policy advisors and, yes, as financial supporters, alumni need ways to connect to the university’s business. Our organization is dedicated to this task.
The university’s motto, “Tuum Est!” means, literally, “It is yours!” Please contact us through the various channels provided in this website to get involved in our events and programs, to reconnect with classmates, and to help UBC in its mission to provide the very best education to the people of BC, Canada and the world.
