What We Do

UBC Alumni Affairs engages alumni, and students as future alumni, in the life of the University in its broadest sense.  We see our work as a natural extension of UBC’s efforts to ensure that students thrive.

UBC’s alumni body of over 225,000 is growing at a very rapid pace and will reach 300,000 within the decade.  These graduates are scholars, leaders and global citizens.  They reside throughout the world, with the largest concentration (over 70 per cent) within the lower Mainland.

Through communications, connecting alumni to the institution and one another, and celebrating milestones, we enrich the lives of alumni and position them to be supporters of and advocates for UBC. Some examples include:

Communicating through

• the award-winning Trek Magazine
• the website www.alumni.ubc.ca.

Connecting alumni to one another through

• reunions
• regional events (organized either by us or our network of regional alumni volunteers); and,

Organizing signature events including

• an annual reception honoring alumni volunteers working across UBC,
• an awards event recognizing extraordinary achievements; and,
• student milestone celebrations are signature occasions.
