Alumni Centre Feedback

It’s very important to us that this building meets the needs of our alumni. While it may be difficult to get the opinions of 250,000 alumni, we’ve continue to run surveys and consultations with alumni. Over the past few years, these results have allowed us to create a programming document to drive the design of the building. Just last year, we received over 1500 submissions on our online feedback from ranging in emotions from pretty darn excited, to annoyed that the university is still developing. We wanted to get a better idea of how our alumni expect to use the building and the results came out as below. With this, and our other research, we have a better idea of what programming to focus on.

The best part of the survey was the kind words people left in the comment section. We have some examples below:

“I like to know that I’ll always have a home at UBC, the Alumni Centre, which provides a reminder to us about what we have accomplished.” – BA ’74

“The Alumni Centre must serve as a bridge between the campus and UBC’s graduated community, by extending a regular and highly attractive invitations to the alumni to visit the campus and participate in the activities of the Alumni Association” – BSc ’82

“When I attended UBC, I felt so strongly that I was a part of the campus community that I feel it is important for me to maintain ties with the university this time around” – Bcom ’03

“I am also hoping to give back to UBC students through donations and possibly mentorship once I am further along in my career so that I can continue to be a part of the strong community spirit I felt there.” – MBA ’05

“While I would love to be able to participate in programs that actively help current and prospective students, I do believe that the on-campus presence of alumni alone can serve as a strong and lively symbol of what it means to be UBC.” – BApsc ’74

People also have told us what improvements we should make to the building. The topics that came up most were parking, bike access, and artwork in the building.

We want to continue to capture the knowledge and feedback from our alumni and encourage you to fill out the following feedback form for us.
