The mentor program helps alumni stay connected with their university. Through lunches, panel discussions and other events, alumni (aka mentors) get together with UBC students and discuss the opportunities and pitfalls of the world of work.
UBC boasts nearly 100 independently operated volunteer programs. This section is designed with all of these participants and stakeholders in mind. Whether you are a current/prospective volunteer, Program Manager, Volunteer Coordinator or project initiator the Volunteer Programs section has something for you.
The Alumni Ambassador Program was created in 2011 to allow six students a forum to begin a conversation with up to 300 alumni in the Lower Mainland. This conversation will contribute to building a highly engaged alumni community through the partnering of students – our future alumni – and our graduates, and by connecting them back with their alma mater through intentional and collaborative programs and opportunities.
Reunions give you a chance to reacquaint yourself with old classmates, expand your professional network and get up to date news on how your old faculty is doing. When you come home to UBC, you can revisit favourite haunts and see how the university is growing. Reunions say as much about the future as they do about the past.
UBC grads can be found all over the globe. The Alumni Association works with volunteer regional reps to coordinate social activities, answer questions from prospective students and their parents, and lend a helping hand to alumni new to the area. There are opportunities to start new branches or assist those that are already up and running.
The young alumni network is always looking for eager grads of the last 10 years to contribute to programming through helping to stage events, provide direction and engage in strategic discussions on better supporting and collaborating with young alumni.
The Board of Directors shapes the strategy for the Alumni Association and its 200,000+ members. The UBC Alumni Association will seek candidates for each vacancy on the Board with an eye to identifying alumni with one or more particular skill sets required to help deliver on the mission and goals of the UBC Alumni Association, as well as to assist with emerging opportunities.
