Alumni Who Fly

Alumni who fly American Airlines and/or British Airways can benefit UBC students for free.

UBC has enrolled in the British Airways On Business Program and the American Airlines Business ExtrAA program to promote student mobility.  The On Business and Business ExtrAA programs allow travelers to earn their full compliment of frequent flier mileage while the University earns free tickets.  UBC Go Global, which manages the University’s student exchange programs, will award the tickets to UBC students who would not otherwise be able to afford to study abroad.  With more than 160,000 UBC alumni, UBC Go Global hopes to generate enough points to provide free airline tickets to all UBC students in need.

Examples:

An alumnus flying round trip between Vancouver and London in British Airways Club Class can earn 9,446 frequent flier miles for his own account and 1,600 On Business points for UBC.  8000 On Business points earns a free round trip ticket between Canada and Europe.

An alumnus who spends $547 to fly round trip between Vancouver and Dallas, Texas on American Airlines can earn 3,508 frequent flier miles for his own account and 109 Business ExtrAA points for UBC.  2000 Business ExtrAA points earns a free round trip ticket between Canada and Mexico.
