What was your first job after graduation?

My first job after my BSc was teaching English in Korea.  It was not really in the Chemistry field, or Science for that matter, but it was an amazing experience.  After travelling for 20 plus hours I was dropped off in a dark back alley in Jeonju, South Korea.  A few of the longest moments of my life later I was rescued by my colleague and the adventure only got wilder from there.  I loved learning the language, the culture and surprisingly learned a lot about myself.  I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I hope to be a member of the UBCO community, helping students achieve their goals, and continuously challenging myself to be the best I can for the University.

If you weren’t in your current job field, what would you be doing?

If I weren’t working at the UBC, I would most likely still be teaching High School.  I am really excited about the career change and look forward to learning and growing as much as I can under this fantastic institution.

What is your best memory from your time at UBC?

I loved attending sporting events, especially volleyball.  I love the game and watching the athletes gets me excited and motivated for the next time I am on the court.  During some of the great match ups, you can feel the excitement in the air.  It is great to be a part of the thunderbirds community, and you almost feel like one of the team when the crowd really gets into it.

What is your dream job?

I aspire to work with, motivate, and learn from students, I find their energy and limitless potential very inspiring.  I enjoy learning new things, and being challenged by my work, and I am fascinated by language and culture.  I don’t know exactly what my dream job looks like, but hope it involves most of these things in one capacity or another.
