Ole Landmark Bjornstad, BASc’10

Current Role:

Investment Banking, Associate

Job Description:

Investment Banking Associate at Houlihan Lokey

What was your first job after graduation?

I worked as a Wireline Field Engineer for Schlumberger on deepwater rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and on platforms offshore California.

What was the best advice you received?

People see the world through their own lens that is affected by their past experiences. You have no idea what other people are thinking and how they experience events. Ask them, and you will learn a lot.

What was the lesson you learned the hard way?

Asking for advice and networking outside of your comfort zone. When I finally started paying attention to what other people had to tell me, I learned about so many opportunities and that I could go much further.

What is your best memory from your time at UBC?

Skiing and snowboarding in Whistler.

If you could go back in time, what would you do differently?

I would do an internship outside of engineering. I would also do an exchange program even if it would delay my graduation.
