alumni UBC Hong Kong Mentorship Program 2020

The Mentorship Program is launching again in Hong Kong for 2020

This program aims to connect UBC alumni living in Hong Kong by matching mentees with mentors to expand professional networks, and share information to enhance the living and working experience for alumni in the vibrant city.

This is a one year program and mentees and mentors can seek, give and exchange knowledge, ideas, and inspiration on work and industry related matters, city matters, or simply to discuss opportunities and how to have a balanced and fun lifestyle in Hong Kong, either in their own time or through events organized by the program

Mentee

Newcomers to Hong Kong are invited to make an application to become a mentee in the program. Mentees will be able to view the profiles of junior and senior mentors and meet them in person through a fun event organized by the program before submitting their mentor requests. Subject to the number of applications, mentees will be paired up one-on-one with a suitable mentor.

Previous mentees have really benefited from meeting with the mentors, often in a similar work industry, but also in others to learn something new. The mentees can ask questions on career, work skill set, culture and even outdoor activities or restaurants in Hong Kong as hobbies. It is an excellent opportunity to stay in touch with the UBC community while gaining personal and professional developments.

Mentor

For those who live and work in Hong Kong, you’re invited to apply to be a junior or senior mentor to the mentees. Junior mentors will be those who have lived in Hong Kong for less than 10 years, and senior mentors more than 10 years, but also depending on work experience. The assistance and growth you can offer to mentees by sharing your knowledge and guidance will be extremely valuable.

A short interview may be scheduled upon application.

Application

Please email the organizers with your name and indicate your interest for mentee or mentor application at ubcmentorshiphk@gmail.com before 31 December 2019.

The organizers will reply by providing the mentee/mentor application, and request for an additional profile. A fun initial meeting for mentees and mentors will be held in January 2020 for everyone to meet before the pairings are finalized.

They look forward to receiving your emails and applications! Should you have any questions, please contact Mandy, Johnison or Samantha at ubcmentorshiphk@gmail.com.
