Randall (Randy) Findlay, BASc’73, PEng, ICD.D

RandyRandy is a corporate director who retired in 2006 as president, director, and co-founder of Provident Energy Trust, an energy income trust based in Calgary that grew from $40M to $4.5B in five years.

He is board chair of Pembina Pipelines and a director of Superior Plus and EllisDon. He is a past director of numerous public and private companies involved in energy, transportation, resources, and IT. Randy qualified for the ICD designation of Director in 2012.

His current volunteer activity includes work with Hull Services Foundation, the alumni UBC board, and the UBC Applied Science Dean’s Advisory Council.

Causes and organizations he has volunteered with in the past include the RESOLVE Campaign to end homelessness in Calgary (co-vice chair), the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation (chair), the Alberta Cancer Foundation Campaign (co-chair), the UBC President’s Campaign Cabinet, and the Canadian Mental Health Association – Calgary (chair).

An active supporter of gender diversity, Randy is a mentor for Women On Board and a founding member of the Thirty Percent Club.

He is a Lifetime Member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta, and a recipient of the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as alumni UBC’s Outstanding Alumni Volunteer Award.

Randy was born in Vancouver and has been married to Claudia for 46 years. They have three children, five grandchildren and spend their time between homes in Calgary and Palm Springs.
