Randall (Randy) Findlay, BASc’73, PEng, ICD.D

RandyRandy is a corporate director who retired in 2006 as president, director and co-founder of Provident Energy Trust (TSX, NYSE), an energy income trust based in Calgary that grew from $40 million to $4.5 billion in five years.

Prior to that he was a senior vice president at TransCanada PipeLines, where he was in charge of the midstream assets business division. He joined the company during its merger with NOVA Corporation. Randy ran NOVA’s non-regulated Canadian operations. Prior to joining NOVA in 1995, he held executive positions in junior, mid-sized and large upstream oil and gas explorers and producers in Canada.

He is board chair of Pembina Pipelines (TSX, NYSE) and is a director of Superior Plus and (past chair) HNZ Group (both TSX), and Whitemud Resources (TSX-V).

He is also a director of privately held EllisDon Construction and board chair of SeaNG Energy.

He is a past director (chair) of Breitburn Energy LP (NASDQ), TransAlta Power LP, Compton Petroleum and WellPoint Systems. At BreitBurn he was chair during its transition from a private to public LP.

His volunteer involvement includes the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation (past chair); Hull Services Foundation; Calgary Concerned Citizens – Resolve Campaign Cabinet; UBC’s start an evolution Campaign Cabinet; UBC Okanagan Engineering Campaign Chair; UBC Applied Science Dean’s Advisory Council; and Women On Board.

Randy is a lifetime member of APEGA, and a recipient of SPE’s Lifetime Achievement Award and alumni UBC’s Outstanding Volunteer Award. In 2012 he received the Institute of Corporate Directors designation of Director.

Randy was born in Vancouver and has been married to Claudia for 43 years. They have three children and five grandchildren.
