Chinese celebrate their new year up to, at least, the 15th day of the first month on the lunar calendar (until the Lantern Festival). Many companies and organizations organize get-together dinners (Chun Ming) throughout the entire first month, with games and riddles highlighting the arrival of the New Year. To celebrate the Year of the Pig, alumni UBC Hong Kong will organize Chun Ming for 120 elderly single dwellers living in government housing of Ngau Tau Kok. Last year, in addition to a sumptuous banquet, a performance by our alumni choir, games, and goodies for them to take home, we also let the elderly folks experience watching VR videos. This year’s get-together dinner will be just as fun, continuing with one of our goals of exposing the elderly folks to different dimensions of the ever-changing world.
alumni UBC Hong Kong‘s Community Concern team is looking for sponsors and volunteers to join them for this joyous event.
