Suicide Prevention Services (SPS) assists elderly individuals who may suffer from a negative mindset, and may feel disconnected from their families or the world at large. One cause of this disconnection may be a result of older individuals being unfamiliar or uncomfortable with modern communication technologies such as smartphones and apps. Join alumni UBC Hong Kong volunteers for an interactive workshop (in Cantonese) where UBC alumni will help small groups of elderly people, selected by SPS, experience the possibilities brought about by smartphones and apps. The goals are to identify communication roadblocks between the elderly and younger people, teach them how to set-up and use apps to access interesting information online, and introduce useful online content such as mind exercises that can enrich the lives of elderly people.
Organized as a partnership between Suicide Prevention Services (SPS) and alumni UBC Hong Kong
