“A Special Olympics Journey: How the Games Changed my Life,” is an inspirational talk from those shaping the Special Olympics Canada 2014 Summer Games to be held on UBC Vancouver campus in July. Hear the story of Special Olympics Athlete and leader Matthew Williams who, at 19, has won two medals at his first national competition, was elected chairman of the Third Athlete Congress and took part in the final leg of the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. UBC students and alumni also share how they hope to decrease discrimination and stigma associated with Games featuring athletes with intellectual disabilities.
