Borrowing
Privileges

This form is not necessary to access online journals – you can already access online journals directly through the alumni app or on the web.

This form registers UBC alumni to use the UBC Library and gives them permission to borrow books.

Within 10 days of completing the form you will be issued an Alumni Library Barcode number which will appear in your alumni app in the ‘Verified’ tile. As soon as the number appears in your app you are approved to borrow books from the Library. You can simply scan the barcode at check-out. If you want to use the Library’s online services like book-renewal requests you will be required to reset your PIN.

Terms and Conditions of the Alumni Library Borrowing service:
1. Alumni receive free community borrower privileges.
2. I understand that Alumni library privileges are for personal use only and may not be transferred to family members or used for business purposes.
3. I agree to comply with the UBC Library Loan Regulations.
4. I understand that the use of the UBC Library and its computing facilities is subject to UBC Policy SC14, Acceptable Use and Security of UBC Electronic Information and Systems. I undertake not to violate their prohibitions and understand that failure to do so may result in suspension of library and computer privileges and other appropriate disciplinary measures.
5. I understand that remote access to the UBC Library’s electronic resources is restricted due to licensing agreements. A list of library electronic resources that can be accessed remotely by UBC Alumni is available here.
6. I understand that access to some material may be restricted (eg: course reserve material, some dvds, some databases, etc).
7. I understand that charges may apply for some Library services (eg: interlibrary loans, document delivery).
8. I understand that UBC collects my personal information for the purpose of providing and improving benefits and services for alumni. It is also being collected under the authority of section 26(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). UBC may also use your contact information to update our alumni mailing lists, which are used by both alumni UBC and UBC to keep alumni informed about University news, events and initiatives, including fundraising. Any questions about the collection or use of this information should be forwarded to alumni.ubc@ubc.ca.
